Welcome

Some interesting things have been happening around here recently – we had a visit from the Midwest Haunter’s Convention on their annual bus tour. Damn, those people were creepy! And you’re hearing that from me – that should give you some perspective. Read more about it here and see pictures here.

Other things going on – we have a new website. What do you think? Tell us in the contact us page.

Most of our attention is currently on preparing the haunted house for the beginning of the season in September. Oh, I positively drool at the thought of all of those mortals squealing their way through my home, thinking that they are going to get out safely. It’s going to be a hell of a ride!

Toodles,

Midwest Haunter’s Convention – Summer Slaughter

On June 3rd we had a visit from the Midwest Haunter’s Convention on their annual bus tour. The tour is a three day jaunt for people who run haunted houses, or who are in the haunting business, to go and see how other haunts do their thing.

Hundred Acres Manor was not open to the general public (although a lucky few snuck in – and an even luckier few got back out again!) so that the haunters could take their time looking at the way that the haunt was laid out. These guys are nearly impossible to impress – the actors called it ‘haunting the haunters.’

We had 160 volunteer actors working that night and the house was fully up and operational. Ethan Turon and Brandon Kelm and many others worked through the night to get the haunt ready a full three months earlier than normal, but it was worth it.

Comments heard when they exited were very positive. Many haunters loved the detail in the haunt, and, in particular how long it took to go through. The maze was very popular, as were some of the other unusual things that you won’t find in any other haunt – but we can’t tell you what they are. Those are trade secrets and we’re going to terrify you with them in September. A few of the haunters told us that it was by far the best haunted house that they had seen.

The event also got publicity from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Read the article here.

Pictures are on our picture gallery – take a look here.

Volunteers Needed

As always, Hundred Acres Manor Haunted House is a charity event - donating our profits to Animal Friends and the Homeless Children’s  Fund.  We are always looking for volunteers to work as:

  • Actors – if you’re good at growling, screaming, snarling, yelling or generally being frightening we’re looking for you.
  • Construction – we are always updating the house and need volunteers to help with decorating, painting, construction, those kinds of things.
